as that may seem; this is the case in this outstanding novel by R.L. Coffield, "Northern Escape," and our immediate introduction
to young Max...
We meet our main character Max in the midst of committing a robbery, one that will end up making him
a very wealthy man but not by choice...
We meet Detective Ben Thomas, a go-getter and one that doesn't let the bad
guy get away; the robbery and a burning desire to apprehend Max and the money begins to consume Ben from day one of the crime
and will occupy him for years to come.
...What happens will amaze you.
If you want a story that has heart, this
is for you. If you want one that has passion, adventure and the struggle with moral issues of life and death, you don't want
to miss this book. A tightly written, mind absorbing story with an ending that will absolutely delight you. Truly recommended.

Max is a callow youth who gets himself involved in something far more serious
than he could have imagined. Bullets flying around prove that, but he is able to take the stolen money and run. He makes
himself into someone new and as he moves and changes, so does the landscape around him; from the arid desert of southern Nevada
to the icy waters of coastal Alaska. His life there with Chloe Littlebird, herself a cop, seems idyllic, but his former partner
in crime hasn’t forgotten him, and neither has a dogged Las Vegas detective. You can run, as they say, but you cannot hide.

A lively read with a quirky ending.

I have finished NORTHERN ESCAPE and I enjoyed it very
much and thought it was an excellent read. Reasons why; I thought the protaganists were believable and would like to read
more about them; I liked the twist of the story; I thought the sense of place was excellent, I was on that boat with him and
them (and I am not a boat person); I thought it was a page turner as I could not wait to find out what happened next; and
I thought your writing was excellent.

I was afraid to put the book down for fear I'd miss
out on what the characters might do while I left them alone. I am in complete awe of how well you constructed the plot, keeping
the suspense high, but then adding in some relief or resolution right when the reader needs it
psychologically. Just
so you know, I am sleep-deprived because of this book, having stayed up until past midnight,even though I had to rise at 6
a.m. for a group mountain bike ride. The Alaskan setting and sailing culture made the book so intriguing - I loved all the
detail of Mack's escape and undigging his treasure and plotting out different anchorages as Ben is trying to guess his whereabouts.
And how the Alaska outlaw culture protected Mack. This would make such a great movie! I hope you are well into the sequel
because I need some questions answered!
